The Hanging Garden Paranormal Research Society was originally founded by Ryan Huston, in 1997. Originally located in Spokane, WA, we have since relocated to Seattle and are once again operating under our original name after spending some time investigating with other groups.

Our philosphy has always been to take a skeptical approach to investigating paranormal phenomena. Unfortunately, the word skeptic has been greatly misappropriated in recent times, being used largely to refer to those who scoff at hauntings in general, and dismiss claims of activity out of hand. By "skeptical", we mean and apply it in the true sense, in that we accept that not every event reported is actually paranormal, and each and every investigator has a responsibility to determine the true cause of what is being experienced.

In short, evidence that survives a good debunking is good evidence indeed.

It is vitally important not to accept events at their apparent face value. As doing so can often do more harm than good, not just to our community of researchers but to those reaching out to us for help, as well. For example, if someone lives in a home with black mold and high EMF, telling them that their illness and feelings of paranoia are the work of a spirit can have a substantial negative impact on their health and well-being.

It is for this reason, among others, that the truth comes first. No matter how disappointing it may be to those of us who want to collect some tasty evidence.

It is our mission to uphold scientific principles of study and investigation. We seek not to merely document hauntings, but also to attempt to learn as much as possible about the underlying natural phenomena involved in them. We also seek to establish positive working relationships with other teams, in the hopes of one day establishing an open peer review of paranormal findings. We are strictly a technology based team in our investigations, and focus our conclusions soley on the evidence gathered.

Of course, those with extrasensory abilities are welcome to join our group, and to investigate with us. However, we ask that all investigators utilize equipment in the gathering of evidence to be presented.

We do not charge any fees for investigations, consultations, evidence reports, or even membership in our group.
